Beautiful Recycling

When a local business went bankrupt, Kairos Food Rescue was invited into their offices to collect anything we could use for the community. Brydie, our operations manager, noticed stacks of polystyrene chillers, brand new and still in their wrappings.

While this isn’t the sort of thing we use at Kairos, Brydie couldn’t see letting them go to waste. She started making some phone calls to see who might be able to use them. One of the companies she called suggested calling pottery groups as chillers are often used to dry out pottery pieces before they go to the kiln. After a few more emails, Brydie found a group that were eager to pick up the chillers.

Just thought I'd let you know the ladies at pottery were very excited to see me arriving with the boxes today. Aside from the two I kept apart, the rest were snapped up in seconds and they all asked me to thank you profusely.”

Many thanks to Canterbury Potter’s Association for putting these to such beautiful use!
